Novatism

Novatism (Carmelian Ašyzřèn, Nolavine Asoxerion, ultimately from West Lavinian Assuxere, "to say [make] anew") is a revolutionary republican ideology and political movement that began in eastern Antraea. It advocates for the creation of a sovereign, egalitarian state founded on free thought. This new society would be implemented by a militant vanguard that shall spearhead and ensure social change from opposing forces. It also sought the creation of a national identity grounded on the state on the grounds of "self-determination".

The Novatists sought to improve (and streamline) the institutions of state into a singular republican system as a basis for organizing society. The ideal republic is a total democratic system in which all matters of state are privy to an enlightened citizenry. Socially, the Novatists are wholly liberal within their percieved "nations"; ending slavery and enshrining total secularism and fundamental social and political rights. People in Novatist states are taught freedom of expression, scientific inquiry as core values.

Due to its beliefs in changing what is considered a superstitious, stratified world, Novatism is considered to be a key predecessor of Modernist thought, though they differ clearly in that the latter seeks to engineer society to a perfect, equitable whole, while the former seeks to empower the people as its ultimate goal. Nevertheless, Novatism is mainly credited (or blamed) for setting the foundations of the Conditary world. Novatism is the current guiding ideology of the Antraean Palatine System (save for Prevna-Patrea) and the Elven Kyž Ha territory in Mespassia.

Novatism has a firm advocacy for the abolition of non-democratic political systems in favor of a republican social order. To the Novatists, the republic is the fullest expression of the three orders, most particularly the rule of law. In the traditional view, Novatism must establish a republic in which the divisions and relations of social power are ultimately dissolved in favor of the sheer power of mass rule. In this respect, the Novatist conception of the republic, the parakunion (Nolavine for "great commons") dissolves the traditional branches of government in favor of a unified legislature as the highest institution of state.

The Parakunion's legislative office defines the sovereignty and structure of the Novatist state. Magistral and judicial duties are held by elected delegates as offices subordinate and wholly within the wider legislative assembly. Localities are represented through a delegated hierarchy of public and works councils that make individual participation in government an everyday fact of life.

In Novatist revolutionary theory, however, the immediate transition from a tyranny to parakunion is unfeasible due to the conditions that define the people's reason in the early stages of vanguardist rule. Thus, the vanguard must establish an "interregnum of enlightenment" (kara adravenara) in which the vanguard must guide the people towards a state of refined reason and responsibility deserving of the classical world's imperial glory. The republican attitudes of the Novatists stem from the pre-classical Cannonian government, where the basis of optimal statehood and statecraft is the people defining laws subordinating the institutions.
