Victoriala, also known as the Commonwealth of Victoriala (Carmelian: Kéřdén Vykterélt) is a country located in southern Mespassia, bordered by Bar and the Mespassian NPZ to the north and northwest and Clairemain to the west, in which it also shares the Belagrian lake, the largest lake in the world in a condominium. It is the leading member and political center of the Free Commonwealth (Marke Kerden).

Southern Mespassia, particularly Victoriala, has boasted a political tradition radically different from their Novatist counterparts in the continent. Adhering to classical ideals of the ancient republic, Victoriala's constitution is founded on liberal values and the three freedoms which forms the basis of modern Victorialan society. Victoriala is a federal bicameral semi-judicial republic in which the Magistrate and the Conciliary work separate but equal, mediated by the authority of the Principat, serving as head of state. Victoriala's significance is based on its ubiquitous endorsement of the economic ideal of Free trade and free enterprise, even with parties contrary to its national interest, making the country suspect amongst its diplomatic allies in the Conditary world. Victoriala's predominance within private economies and its exceptionalist attitudes have made them a contentious power in the frontiers, even among like-minded polities within the Free Commonwealth.

Originally a colony of the Matriarchate (administered by the Judicate of Carmelia) and subsequently of the republic, Victoriala was participant to the revolutionary wars of independence during 1856-1882. Immediately after its foundation, the country and its newfound allies formed a protectionist policy in which trade was limited to each other, developing the country over decades in a period called the Great Coalescence. It was a primary participant in the Great Ascendancy Wars, opening itself up to the world at its declaration of aid. Today it is one of the leading powers in the Frontiers, with one of the largest mechanical militaries in the world, next to Kontinovad. It is a common trade hub and commercial center, housing major firms, both private, collective and socialized, though the former dominates the region's economical ethos.

Etymology

Geography and environment

Victoriala forms part of the wider Southern Mespassian Lake System, sharing up aquatic sovereignty with neighboring Clairemain. It takes up much of the southern part of the Crescent Bay, which ends at the Cornadic peninsula.

Government

Victoriala is a modernized variation of the classical judicial republic (kařθariəns tasåtĩ), a liquid federation of thirteen states (kĭns) with varying governments that hold a constitutionally republican basis. The civities are represented in the High Court (adřəfã), its seats equally divided between the thirteen polities. While not exactly enshrined in the constitution, the city of Porte Haviere is considered a civity in itself, albeit lacking representation, embodying a classical consensus towards the neutrality of the center of state affairs.

Unlike the republics of eastern Antraea, the Victorialan magistrate holds full executive power, helmed by the Matriarch (patřiz). As enforcer of the legal order, the Victorialan Magistrate is held as above the authority of the Syndics, relegated to legislate and discuss policy. While this imbalance of power is entrenched by constitution, the two are mediated by the Hands of the Matriarch (çĭnez patřizeə)

Economy

The Victorialan economy is the responsibility of the Magistracy of Commerce and Prosperity. The national constitution entrenches the liberal principle of right to property and unbound commerce.

Public works and social welfare made in partnership with lobbied firms. Free trade policy, sometimes the middleman for Belgrish and Arazanic products to Progressive and Novatist countries.
